About the Author
David Myers is the John Dirk Werkman Professor of Psychology at Hope College where he has taught for the past 30 years. David Myers' love of teaching psychology has been rewarded by students on many occasions with numerous “Outstanding Professor” awards. An award-winning researcher, Dr. Myers received the Gordon Allport Prize from Division 9 of the American Psychological Association for his work on group polarization. His scientific articles have appeared in more than two dozen journals, including Science, American Scientist, Psychological Bulletin, and Psychological Science. He has served his discipline as consulting editor to the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

A Review About the Actual Content

Hard to believe that after all these years people still don't understand that Amazon reviews are for the product, not the shipping. Well I will review the book.
I needed it for a Social Psychology introductory class. The book is very thorough and makes it easy to apply social psychology findings in my own life. One of the best chapters is the one on relationships. Some of the things I learned there will help more than any self-help book to date. Another good thing about this book is the large amount of research that it cites. I had a good time using the index to find cited articles and looking them up for myself, eventually ending up learning so much more.
As for Social Psychology the discipline, I think this book does a really good job showing why the field is important and what contributions it has made. I went in not really knowing how useful social psychology could be, and by the end I had a real appreciation for the field. Even though at this point I could sell the book to Amazon for over $72 (which is more than I paid from a discount place), I have decided to keep it.
