I love quotes and have many written in journals and hundreds in folders, printed large enough to post on my office door. I teach dance in academia (right now) and it can be a challenge to motivate students to risk enough that they learn to live fully. This book provides a wealth of inspirational quotes I will be able to add to my motivational door collage.
I'm not patient enough to read only one/day, so will share a few of my favorites from the book. Today the ones that stop me as I browse the book are the ones about continuing in the face of adversity: especially day 28: "Fall seven times and stand up eight." ~Japanese Proverb. Also all of General George Patton's seem relevant to my life right now.
Getting back up, sharing what motivates and inspires me, leading by example - this is how I live my life and I'm writing this review because it seems that this is what author Kevin Kruse does also. I will enjoy this book for many years to come. If you're reading this review I'll assume it's because you're interested in buying this book - I encourage you to do so. I don't think it's possible to have too much inspiration!

Fodder for Reflection

This book is full of fodder for reflection. For some my response was, "Yes, yes!" for others it was, "Huh! I never thought of it that way before." Being a book of quotes on leadership the connection of many of the quotes was obvious, but for others the connection was more subtle. You had to think about it some, and that is what made those powerful. These quotes are the kind you want to copy onto a sticky note and leave on your computer monitor for a week, so you can spend time chewing on it.

Looking forward to my best year ever...

I am an entrepreneur and educator, and now in my mid-60s I have been working on a couple of projects that will be challenging to bring to fruition. It is important to me, more than ever, for my work to have meaning and make a difference, even if it is in a small way to only a few. I have been asking myself how I can remain inspired and motivated as I push through on these projects. Some of the quotes and authors are familiar to me, and some are new—a great mix of familiar and unfamiliar. The activities at the end of the book are also useful tools and reminders to me that I can step back and reflect on what I am dreaming, thinking and doing, and exercise the option to change or modify my course. I will keep this book close and refer to it often starting now and throughout the development and launch of my new projects, and will encourage my clients and students to consider reading and using it for inspiration as well. ~ June Covington, PhD
